Heyy, its Tajah (: from TajahMack radio!! I am still learning how to do my own show, so its pretty funny to listen to it. For my first show I played music that I listen to on the regular. I played Erykah Badu, Daft Punk, Lupe Fiasco and other great. Your in for some laughs because of my silly voice and mistakes :p. In my second show I mixed it up a little bit and played each song from a different genre! I played dance, rap, electronic, r&b, pop and other great songs from different genres. I interviewed my friend jowanna, who is hi-lar-ee-us no joke! She always has me laughing, and though our interview was slightly akward its definitely one of those things anyone can laugh at. For my third show I chose to pick my songs based around the theme, sunshine and interviewed my friend through skype, which is entertaining aha because he was a funny mess. There are a lot of unexpected surprises that are pretty funny, and I enjoyed making it and listening to the great music. By listening to my show you will find out about the artist I play and maybe even become interested in a new genre! So check it out on my podcast page.
Jowana’s World is about me and what I listen to. I play music on how I feel for the day. My first show on podomatic it was a little nerve racking but I got through it. I played songs that people would normally listen to so I can get my listeners to tune into my show. The picture I picked for this episode is a pink flower because it represented me and it was my first show. My second show was about different genres and getting the feeling of listening to music you don’t normally listen to. My interview was crazy funny. I’d interviewed Tahjah and she was funny all we did laugh. I really like the show so much because I found some cool music to play like Billie Holiday she has a beautiful voice and now I listen to some of her music from time to time. Now my third show was the best I ever did and I was required to pick a theme and my theme was cartoons. All the music I played was nothing but cartoons. The name was loony 4 cartoony (lol) I played all my favorites cartoons. In all the shows I did all I did was laugh cause I’m a goofy person and all I could do was laugh so I wont be nervous and all I did was be my self. Yall should listen to my show and get a kick out of it. Yall can laugh at me or with, either way you laughing so come and listen if you don’t like it oh well I don’t care, for those who want to listen to it here is the url http://www.podomatic.com/profile/raw13373
Her booty, why would you want a fake booty? It’s not all that serious. She been with a dude for four years but according to MediaTakeOut.com Nicki just broke up with him do to fact that her and Diddy has something going on. So am asking is this female a lesbian or not because she’s always talking about it.you must really dont like your body or something, i mean you had to get your breast done to go along with thats fake booty Oh WOW.
If you didnt sleep with lil Wayne and the whole Young Money you may not be so fake with it. Lying saying your nothing but real female please save it for the fakes females. Sorry to say but you got barbie mad for labeling your self as her.your so fake that you cant even make your weaves real . You say you have a son show him, talk about himeverything about you is a lie. The only people see you as a real female is other fake females. going around saying you wrote your lyrics knowin lil Wayne wrote them.
Lets look at this before picture of nicki look at her hela fake.
Now lets look at a after picture This the type of stuff that make me mad why cant you just be 100% real? I guess money really do change people and they ways and how they look.
Well Onika Maraj, i dont even know how to say that name. I see why you changed your name. Your so lame lil nicki lol
Nicki Minaj is a bad influence on young girls. some girls look at her as a role model, and i dont know why? but why talk about these inappropriate things that i cant explain but here is some examples
The first picture she got from Lil Kim Hardcore CD cover in 1996. lil kim is the biggest freak there is in the music industry. Why would anybody would want their daughter look up to this or anybody who act like this? Nicki has 739,447 twitter fans, so she might have impacted some girls who want to be her because she has the body of a girl who has low self esteem or who think its okay to carry herself the way she does , what I am saying she’s has a body that a girls dream for and that can hurt girls minds because they gone think they have to look a certain way. Do she have to look like this in a male rap industry? do she have to exploit her body like that? well she makes more money or gets more fans by just being herself and who she really is? these questions I have run through my mind because i dont want my my little sister to think its cool to change your body or your look to get attention, how bout you?

Most who look at this would think that it’s sending a great message. After all, it is creating a better place for everyone. A world where everyone is free to be themselves, no fear of judgment involved, right? Wrong. This is great for those who are liberals, but what about those conservative Christians who oppose homosexuality so strongly that they would rather jump off a cliff than say it’s okay? The beliefs of radical Islamists who believe deep in their hearts that a woman’s role is to stay in the house is not represented here. In that sense, the liberals who seem to tolerate everything do not tolerate those who are intolerant. Can you get more hypocritical than that?
Real Beauty?
This may be one of the cutest, most respectable commercials I have ever seen…at least that’s what I thought. Then I discovered that this campaign is from Unilever, the same company that owns Slim Fast and implies that women need to lose weight to be beautiful.
What are we supposed to believe?
He Did it First is NOT an Excuse
Capital Punishment, which is euphemism for MURDER, is currently legal in the thirty six American states. It’s like saying “Hey, let’s kill someone who killed someone to show people that killing someone is wrong.” Really!? Come on America, I know we voted George W. Bush into office but we’re not that dumb…I hope.
When I sit on the bus, when I’m in the car, when I’m walking, or even looking out the window it doesn’t matter I always see funny stuff!!!! I see funny stuff even online on www.myspace.com, www.facebook.com, etc. Sometimes I find people’s pictures to be pretty funny. The funniest thing to me is when you see something everybody doesn’t see, and when you can just look at somebody and start laughing… its more of a mind thing…. you have to be in tune with yourself and just chill.
For instance when someone on the bus gets a little wild
Then there are just funny looking people with their funny looking outfits
People with money can look funny too. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you don’t have your off days. For example amber rose looks so funny to me every time I see her I laugh! I think its hair.
Classics are cool and all but nowadays things get a little ridiculous…..Stuff like this isn’t really even funny its very irritating to think that certain ignorant people in this world can laugh at this.
Or even this type of stuff… it just makes me sick to my stomach
This is so not funny to me. What is so funny about fat monkeys that can barley walk, sleep and look like it has trouble breathing? Obviously the zoo is not taking care of him because he’s supposed to be doing flips and jumping on bars. I’m pretty sure if he even attempts take a jump he’s going fall on his face and not be able to get up! He needs some serious help!
People falling is funny to hahahaha!!!! It’s extra funny when they don’t think anybody seen it!
NO NO NO! What’s even funnier are ugly smiles that people have. When people with those smiles, smile extra hard it’s even funnier.
OR
See just because you didn’t see it first, doesn’t mean it’s not funny!!!! No matter if i saw it first or if i was the last one to see it I”m going to laugh…you’re guaranteed I’m going to !!!
Not only is he a character who was supposed to last 7 episodes but ended up making it till the end–he is also the most unique person on the show. I guess you could say he is a controversial character, because he is a gay “robin hood” type with a gun.
The funny thing is the “rich” people he steals from our drug dealers. Everyone is scared of Omar, but he makes a point of never harming citizens who arn’t part of the game. The stick-up carries a shotgun, but never uses profanity throughout the show!
“It’s all in the game, though, right?.”–Omar Little
Omar testifying in court during first season
This clip shows the connection Omar makes between his greed, and the lawyer’s, who is paid with the same “dirty money” he ridicules Omar for stealing–because of all the drug lords he defends.
Omar with his boyfriend Brandon during the 1st season
As I notice in most of Micheal K. Williams interviews,(AfterElton.com)most interviewees ask how he felt about his character being gay. Williams claims it doesn’t phase him, but he knows that some supporters of Omar don’t like that aspect about him–many may even question the actor’s sexuality. I feel sastified that Micheal K. Williams doesn’t care about his homosexuality, because that’s exactly how I wanted the actor to approach the issue. What I don’t like is viewers disliking Omar because he is a black man who is gay–being the most controversial character on the show.
The Wire depicts Omar as far from the typical homosexual man, especially since he could be considered a “gangster”–and gay gangsters are rare (or open ones are). First things first, no one should really care that the character prefers men over women–but since many still do, why would they get angry at Omar being gay even when he is not at all “outlandish” about being it? You never see Omar talking about his struggles on the matter, or saying things like “Marlo, you just don’t understand how this whole game here works. You’re not gay.”
If anything, one might forget that Omar was homosexual, until he brings out a new boyfriend every now and again. One interview I heard with the actor on NPR, had a whole segment on how Williams found out Omar was gay.
He said the writers tried to keep it subtle in the “pilot” of the show, making him “sensually” touch his boyfriend, or shooting him a look or two of affection. However, Williams took it to the next level and did something no one expected. He made out with his boyfriend on screen to cut out any further notion that he may be “too scared” to do any of that “gay shit”. His on-screen boyfriend didn’t even know he was planning to do it. With this in mind, try watching the episode again to see if you can see the naturalness of the kiss.
I find it interesting that the more I learn about media and film and social justice issues, the more I realize that many films coming out today are allegories for current issues, or issues that happened in the past.
I’m in a class in school called World of Media, where we study films and learn about the deeper message within the scenes and delve into their meanings. Currently, we’re finishing a unit on westerns that are allegories for the Vietnam war. We watched movies like the Wild Bunch, which are specifically made as a separate message to help the viewer or outsider understand exactly how astonishing things in the real world are, without being a documentary. We watched Four Hours in My Lai, and compared the events of the My Lai massacre to those in the Wild Bunch. My teacher, Ms Green, also brought up (at the beginning of the unit) that District 9 was an allegory for apartheid in Africa (I never saw the movie, but she’s a smart lady so I just rolled with it). Ultimately, it made me really think about the movies and shows that I watch today, and how their messages seem to really connect to issues in the world at the time of the movie or show’s occurrence.
I just recently saw the movie Daybreakers, and yes, this is going to be similar to my other post, because, well, let’s face it, most movies DO apply to the here and now. Anywho, as I was saying, I just saw the movie Daybreakers with my roommate and, I have to say, I LOVED it. But I came to thinking: how does the issue in this movie connect to what’s happening in the world today?
First let me say that the movie’s ultimate premise was that the population of vampires was slowly going mad due to the deprivation of human blood, because the population of humans was growing more and more scarce. If one vampire doesn’t get the sustenance he or she needs, they go crazy and turn into a rogue vampire (really ugly things: wings, huge teeth, rabid, skinny, bald, etc).
In my economics class, we just watched a documentary on food. This guy (I blank on his name – sorry!) went to Brazil because he was interested in where our food comes from, and how we’re going to feed our tens of billions of people within the next fifty to hundred years. He investigates how Brazil does their farming, and how Brazilian scientists have been trying to make some of Brazil’s worst deserts into their most fertile agricultural fields.
Both images: massive Brazilian soy bean harvest
I was thinking about both Daybreakers, and this documentary the other day, and it suddenly hit me: Daybreakers is an allegory for the food crisis!!
This world currently holds over six BILLION people, many of which are either in danger of, or are starving. What’s interesting is that Daybreakers totally utilizes that and makes itself into a messenger for the world: if we don’t find out an answer soon, life as we know it will perish. We will NOT have the things that we do, because we won’t have the resources we’re used to due to the overuse, and MASSIVE population boom.
Daybreakers is a PRIME example of this.
This clip for Daybreakers shows us how quickly the population of one can wipe out the other, and (even though the clip really doesn’t say it) the food crisis (although in their case: blood crisis).
I really really really find it interesting that movies are made based on real problems, rather than pure imagination. I mean, it’s really awesome that we have some of the greatest directors in media trying to educate the world on things that really are important, but is it appropriate in films that are so based in fiction that we barely recognize the significance.
I mean, I feel like I only recognized the symbolism of Daybreakers because of my World of Media class. I don’t think many people today would connect two and two together…. would they?
I have this i Pod which holds a lot of music that i listen to, but there’s always that one rapper that has a lot of songs under there name. Usually the one that has a lot of songs is people’s favorite rapper. My favorite rapper on my i Pod is J. Cole; a rapper from South Carolina. I have his two mix tapes of his on my ipod named The Come Up and The Warm Up. The latest one is The Warm Up. I liked his Warm Up mix tape better than his Come Up mix tape because it sounded like he was trying to get a deal based on that mix tape. One of my favorite song off his mix tape “The Warm Up” is called “Grown Simba”. That was one of my favorite song because he rhymed about his struggle and his way of getting to the top. One of his way of saying he’s trying to get on top is by saying ” Goodbye to the Bottom, Hello to the Top”. He’s considered a good rapper to me because he raps about what’s going on with life and his way of giving his perspective to the things. Like lately rappers been talking about what they got like the cars they got, chains, and money etc., but not really about things that are going on. Here’s a song off his mixtape ” The Warm Up”.
The hardest part of my day, without a doubt, is waking up. On various weekends, I attend Public Speaking tournaments. The worst part of those days is not wearing a suit, not debating issues which I really don’t care about, and not even having to deal with the seemingly endless amount of nerds who participate in the program. The worst part of those days is waking up. Maybe it’s just me, but waking up at seven o’clock in the morning is the worst part of my life. I’m tired, cranky, and did I mention tired? Unfortunately for me, caffeine doesn’t affect me, so there’s no way to jolt myself awake, unless I’m taking five-hour-energy every day, and I’m not going to spend thousands of dollars on an energy drink every year.
This problem with waking up is coupled with my problem of falling asleep. I’ve heard various reasons why teenagers stay up so late and have so much trouble falling asleep. My favorite theory is that in ancient times, the teenagers were the ones who were forced to guard the caves from saber tooth tigers, so they stayed up all night and slept all day. Although I’m not slaying any beasts, I still end up staying up late even when I don’t have work. With all the crap that comes with being a junior in high school (SAT’s, worrying about college, girls, sports, worrying about the grades that will decide which college you go to and ultimately decide your future, etc) my mind never stops racing. This keeps me up all night and makes it very hard to wake up. Because I’m so tired, I end up doing less probability problems in math and more thinking to myself about how long I would nap if I had the time. So basically, less sleep equals less work, and less work equals worse grades, and so on. In my junior year of high school, this is not OK. And it’s not like I’m a solitary case. Instead of saying “Hello, good morning,” most of my friends’ first words of the day are “Dude, I’m so tired that I don’t even know who I am.” If we only had maybe an hour or two longer to sleep, it would make a world of difference. At my school, they’ve tried to do this by giving those who only take six classes the option of sleeping in during first period and starting their day during second period. Great idea high school, there’s just one problem: MANY OF US HAVE TO TAKE SEVEN PERIODS. For those of us who need to fill academic requirements, this solution doesn’t help us.
I wish that all schools started at at least 9:30. Maybe this is a fantasy, because I don’t really know how this would affect sports, but it’s something that I dream about on the nights that I can fall asleep.
